Research and analytics consultancy

Research and analytics for organizations and individuals.

Forschungswerk Analytics offers data science, analytics, and scientific research support. We help organizations make decisions from their data, and we help researchers with study design, statistical analysis, and preparing work for publication.

What we do

We work across three main areas. In each one, the aim is analysis that is clear and holds up when someone checks it.

Data science and analytics

We help organizations use their data to make decisions. That can be a single piece of analysis or building up an analytics function over time.

  • Predictive and forecasting models
  • Causal inference and experiments
  • Measurement and metrics
  • Dashboards and reporting
  • Model review and second opinions
  • Teaching and training

Scientific research

We support research projects from design through to analysis, working with research teams, labs, and independent researchers.

  • Study and sampling design
  • Statistical analysis and modeling
  • Reproducible analysis pipelines
  • Power analysis and pre-registration
  • Co-authorship and acknowledgement

Academic review

We review academic work before you submit it, covering the methods, the statistics, and how the results are presented.

  • Manuscript and methods review
  • Responding to reviewers
  • Thesis and dissertation support
  • Grant and proposal analysis
  • Figures and clarity

Clients

Who we work with

We work with two kinds of clients. The methods are similar; what changes is where the answer has to hold up.

Organizations

Companies, public bodies, and non-profits that need answers from their data but don't have an in-house data science team.

We can take on a specific project, or work as an ongoing analytics resource. When a project ends, we hand over the code and documentation so your team can keep using it.

Researchers and individuals

Academics, graduate students, clinicians, and independent researchers who need help with methods, statistics, or getting a manuscript ready.

We document our contribution honestly, whether that means an acknowledgement or co-authorship. We do not write claims we cannot stand behind.

How we work

Our process

Most projects follow the same four stages. You can review the result of each stage before we move on to the next.

01

Understand the question

We start by getting clear on what you need to know and what a good answer would look like.

02

Review the data

We look at what data you have, where the gaps are, and what it can reasonably tell us.

03

Analyze and test

We choose appropriate methods, run the analysis, and check the results carefully.

04

Report the findings

We explain what we found in plain language and hand over the work behind it so it can be checked or repeated.

About

About the name, and how we work

Forschungswerk
German, noun

Forschung: research. Werk: works, or workshop.

It means something close to "research works", a place where research is done, in the way a Kraftwerk is a power plant. We chose it because we think of analysis as careful work that is built step by step and can be checked by others.

  • We report what the analysis supports

If the data cannot answer a question, we tell you rather than stretching it further than it will go.

  • We show our working

Every result comes with the code and notes behind it, so it can be reproduced by someone else.

  • We write clearly

Our reports are meant to be understood by people who are not statisticians, not just by those who are.

  • We are independent

As an outside firm, we can give you an honest view, including when it is not the answer you were hoping for.

FAQ

Common questions

Short, direct answers to what people usually ask before getting in touch.

What does Forschungswerk Analytics do?

Forschungswerk Analytics is a research and analytics consultancy. We provide data science and analytics for organizations, and study design, statistical analysis, and academic review for individual researchers.

Who do you work with?

We work with two groups: organizations that need answers from their data but have no in-house data science team, and researchers such as academics, graduate students, clinicians, and independent investigators who need help with methods, statistics, or publication.

Can you review the statistics or methods in my thesis or manuscript?

Yes. We review academic work before submission, covering study design, statistical analysis, and how results are presented, and we can help you respond to reviewer comments.

Do you offer co-authorship, and how is your contribution credited?

It depends on how involved we are. We document our contribution honestly, from an acknowledgement for advisory work to co-authorship where we contribute substantially. We do not write claims we cannot stand behind.

Can you help design a study before I collect data?

Yes. We help with study and sampling design, power analysis, and pre-registration, so the analysis is sound before any data is collected.

Where are you based, and do you work remotely?

We are based in the United States and work with organizations and researchers remotely.

How do I start a project?
